Once Upon a Crime is a true crime podcast that’s written, produced and edited by me, Esther Ludlow. Each series covers one type of crime and details specific cases within that topic. Some of the episodes in the series “Fatal Fans” covered John Lennon’s murder and Ronald Reagan’s assassination attempt. In “Killer Kids” I detailed the case about America’s youngest serial killer as well as the only known female school shooter - a 16-year-old girl. In other series I’ve covered crimes in the art world, the tragic or mysterious deaths of musical icons and and killer couples.
I have a very loyal audience and it grows every week. Besides listening to the podcast I also have listeners who interact with me frequently on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and a Facebook fan page.
I write each one of my episodes and my listeners have come to feel they “know” me and I love to offer them discounts and testimonials about great products and services. I haven’t had any official sponsors yet, but, for example, I asked them to make a donation to their local animal shelter over the holidays and I got a lot of great feedback of people sharing where they donated.
I’m a storyteller and plan to incorporate any sponsors ads into the fabric of the show so that it feels seamless and organic and really connects with the audience.
About the Host
Esther Ludlow has been podcasting since 2012 and began Once Upon a Crime in 2016. She has been featured in the San Jose Mercury News, Entertainment Weekly and Salon.com. Her background is in psychology and counseling, working with at-risk youth and juvenile offenders. She holds a Masters Degree in Counseling from Santa Clara University.
