About the Host
Host Name: Dan Prosser and Andrew Frankel
Host Residence Country: United Kingdom
Dan began his career in car journalism just as the world was slipping into one of its deepest recessions in modern times. Unsurprisingly, the newly launched magazine he worked for as Staff Writer, Performance Car, was canned two years later at the end of 2009.
Undeterred, he carried on in the business as a freelancer, covering the World Rally Championship and writing about cars for various websites and magazines, plus The Daily Telegraph. Three years at Evo magazine as Road Test Editor followed, after which he contributed to Autocar and PistonHeads for a number of years.
Dan co-founded The Intercooler with Andrew Frankel in 2018 and started the Intercooler podcast in 2020. He was the proud owner of an Alpine A110, but it made way for a VW Golf GTI Performance Mk7.5 (manual, tartan seats…) in time for the arrival of his first child.
Andrew lists his only talents as being able to drive cars and write English, so is grateful not to have been born in 19th century France. As well as being a Ti co-founder, he is senior contributing writer to Autocar and Motor Sport and writes weekly for Goodwood and quarterly for Magneto. He was the Sunday Times’ chief car tester for 17 years and remains a Car Of The Year jury member. He races whatever and whenever he can, from brand new GT cars to massive old Edwardians.
When not on the road he lives quietly with his family in the Wye Valley. ‘From city cars to supercars, I am drawn to those that know what they are for,’ he says. ‘I’d far rather a car did one thing really well than be fair to middling at everything.’ Which is why among his small accumulation of inexpensive old cars you’ll find an original Fiat 500, a Caterham Seven and the Series III Land Rover in which he passed his test.
