GETTING STARTED WITH PODCAST ADVERTISING

A beginners guide to help you get started with podcast advertising.

We've created this guide to help educate you on everything you need to know about getting started with podcast & radio show advertising. You are probably here because you are the person in charge of marketing your product or service. You have probably advertised on other online platforms including Google Adwords, Facebook Ads, Display Ads, and even tried some remarketing tactics. As marketers, we are always looking for new sales channels that will help drive sales and allow us to see a return on our ad investment. Podcast advertising is a great new sales channel for you.

How does it work?

Advertisers shop our online marketplace.
Advertisers buy ad spots directly from podcasters and radio shows.
Advertisers work directly with the podcaster until the ad is completed.

Advertisers shop our online marketplace to find shows that best match their product or service. Within each listing page, you will find detailed information from show information, ad spots with cost, audio samples, and listener demographics. We provide all the essential data to make an informed ad buying decision.

When the advertiser orders an ad from a podcast or radio show, they describe the product or service they wish to advertise. This information is passed along to the podcaster/radio show for approval. If the show feels their product or service is a good fit for their audience, they will approve the ad. If not, the advertiser will need to find a different show.

After the show approves the ad spot, the podcaster completes the ad according to the advertisers specifications. When the ad is completed, the podcaster reports detailed information about the ad including which episode did it air on, direct links to the episode, and a link to the show notes page. Our system facilitates all payments from advertisers and payouts to podcasters.

Getting started with podcast advertising in 5 easy steps...

Step 1
Shop our marketplace and find 4-5 podcasts that you feel will be a good fit for your product or service. Our marketplace contains hundreds of shows that vary in audience size, ad product cost, genres, so you'll be sure to find shows that align well with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact the podcaster directly from their listing page. They are happy to help.

Step 2
Now that you found 4-5 shows that aligns well with your business, you ready to start testing. Order 2-3 ad spots from each show. This way you can test and see which shows will perform the best for you.

Step 3
Create your ad script. If you're not sure where to start, try out our ad script generator. Also note that podcasters are more than happy to help you with this. Just give them some basic information about your product or service and they will more than likely just create the ad for you.

Step 4
We are assuming you will want to see a return on your investment, so here's how to track your results. Have each podcast host mention a unique coupon code on air. This way you can track how many coupon codes were redeemed from each host. If you don't offer coupon codes, then we suggest creating a unique landing page URL for each podcast. This way the host can direct their audience to your unique landing page. Track the results and see which landing pages brings in the most traffic that converts into customers.

Step 5
Analyze your results over the next few weeks. You should start to see which shows perform the best for you. Double-down your ad spend by re-ordering larger quantity ad spots. Most of the time you will receive a discount too when you order in bulk.
