Chris Stewart presents the histories, tales, and even legends of China with a characteristic flare and touch of wit. Beginning at the dawn of time and the creation of the universe, it moves through the ancient, semi-fictional dynasties such as the Xia, the feudal periods of the Shang, Zhou, and the Warring States, then on to the high imperial period of the Han, the 3 Kingdoms, Tang, and Song, and the Mongol conquests and its subsequent Yuan Dynasty. Currently, the show is deep into the Ming Dynasty of the 16th century, and its trials and travails against foes both foreign and domestic, on the Asian steppes beyond the Great Wall, the high seas, and even in the halls of the Forbidden City itself.
